2012 will be the year that sees tens of millions of tourists descend on the UK for not one but two once in a lifetime events, first, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June, and then just a month later, the London Olympics. As millions of people come into the country, however, you might be thinking about where you’re going to go this year. So we’ve got a few suggestions to help you get started.
The Luxury Approach
Dubai may have had a rough ride over the last couple of years, but it’s firmly back on its feet and once again the world’s top luxury tourist destination. Whether it’s seven star hotels, amazing architecture, top shopping, beautiful beaches, or even a little of the unexpected traditional Arabian charm which is still very vibrant in the city (though often-overlooked) there’s no better place to stay for complete luxury and relaxation.

To make things even better, top flight finder DialAFlight are offering loads of cheap Dubai Flights at the moment leaving you a little extra cash to spend on pampering yourself.
A Different Destination
Mexico might be a country that is often in the press for all the wrong reasons, but it’s also an amazing country to visit and much safer than many people think. In fact, head south from Mexico City into Oaxaca and Chiapas and you’ll soon find yourself enjoying the hospitality of some of the friendliest people in the world.
So why head out to Central America? Well, firstly, the weather is incredible, particularly during the cold British winter. It often gets up to 33 degrees in the central province of Oaxaca in the middle of December! Chuck in top quality hostels, over 10,000 archaeological sites like Teotihuacan (some of which are the absolute finest in the world), decent transport connections, cheap food, a tradition of amazing hand crafts, coffee, and fantastic beaches and you’ve got a top holiday destination.
Close to Home
Paris might be the most popular tourist city in the world, but just as Brits get annoyed when people assume London is all there is to do in the UK, so do the French when people assume that Paris is all there is. Head further afield and you’ll find a country of astonishing variety, amazing food, top quality transport connections and usually much better weather than our own.
Add to that the fact that you can take your car over on the ferry and explore the place yourself, and in the summer loads of places have campsites, you can save a lot of money and have an amazing time simply by heading over to our nearest neighbours.
